Difference Between Sea Moss And Seaweed

Seaweeds have wide applications and are used as food as condiments, pharmaceutical industries as medicines, and excipients like preservatives.

B.    Sea moss

Sea moss, on the other, is a specific type of seaweed, scientifically known as Chondrus crispus. It is also known as Irish moss. It is a red alga that has been used as food by humans for several thousand years.

It is abundantly found along the coasts of Europe and North America and can grow upto 20 cm. Sea moss has many health benefits. It improves your mood, boosts your immunity, and is popularly used for weight loss and several face masks.

In industries, sea moss is a significant source of carrageenan, which is used as a thickener and stabilizer in food products.
